Common mistakes
Lowering the waiting arm
Do not let the other hand drop below your chest during the press; retain the same shoulder start.
Leaning sideways
Do not counter unilateral cable pull by leaning; stay upright through foot support and abdominal bracing.
Crossing the load over
Do not move the working hand over the other shoulder; balance it over the same shoulder.
Switching too early
Do not throw the other handle upward before the descending one settles at the shoulder; use a controlled pause.
Using the lower back
Do not flare your ribs to gain overhead range; keep your torso stable over your pelvis.
Rubbing the cable against the arm
Do not press with cable lines resting on your shoulder; maintain a clear path from handle to pulley.
