Exercise technique

  1. Height

Set the crossbar on your rear shoulders at a height requiring only a small knee extension to lift.

  2. Setup

Secure loads evenly and clear the walking route.

  3. Position

Rest the bar on the upper back, not the neck, and hold both uprights.

  4. Lift

Brace your abdominals and extend knees to lift the frame clear.

  5. Steps

Keep the head upright and walk with short controlled steps.

  6. Balance

Use small steps to limit sideways and forward-back frame swing.

  7. Lower

Stop first, then bend hips and knees to lower the frame to the floor.

Key technique points

Common mistakes

Loading the neck

Do not place the crossbar on cervical vertebrae instead of the shoulder shelf.

Setting too low

Do not require an uncontrolled deep squat to lift clear.

Long fast strides

Do not amplify frame swing.

Leaning sideways

Do not compensate for one-sided loading by bending the lower back.

Prolonged breath hold

Do not try to cover the entire route without breathing.

Setting down while moving

Do not strike the frame feet down while the yoke still travels forward.
