Common mistakes
Jumping from the floor
The lower leg takes over the work of the upper leg.
Leaving the heel off the step
This reduces the contact area.
Using too high a step
When the pelvis tucks, it becomes harder to push under control with the upper leg.
Dropping to the floor
This loses leg control during the lowering phase.
Shifting the hip sideways
This changes the supporting alignment of the front leg.
Swinging the dumbbells
This unnecessarily challenges balance during the transition onto the step.
